Because too many people who believe in Jesus are still living in the old — from an old identity, saturated in the old creation, maintaining old thought patterns and assumptions, loaded with old baggage, and having the same old experiences.
Yet the whole purpose of the Christian faith — the entire point of it all, at a personal and social level — is to be resurrected into new life, live from a new identity, embrace new ways of thinking and seeing, and become full participants in the new creation — an unshakeable and eternal kingdom breaking into this world.
Life in the Spirit is a regenesis.
The message and ministry of Jesus are not only about redemption but also about renewal and restoration. The God who is making all things new has planted his divine DNA within us.
